The sacrament of Holy Communion refers to the Eucharist and wine that is taken after they have been consecrated by the priest and have become the real presence of Jesus Christ.
Holy Communion is recieved for the first time when Baptised children have reached the age of 7 or 8 and have been approved to do so through their catechist. First Penance must be made before recieving first Holy Communion.
Because of the intimate connection of the sacrament of Holy Communion to our life in Christ, Catholics who wish to receive Communion must be in a state of grace—that is, free of any grave or mortal sin—before receiving it. To do so, one must go to Confession before recieving Communion.
If you are interested in recieving this sacrament, or signing your child up for religious education in preparation for this sacrament, please call the rectory at 845-292-6681.
